The only thing in the world...

that could possibly rival my love of style is my love of literature. When I move into a house I will require only two things: a bathtub and a library. I don't care about the rest. I'd just like a room with rows of books and a bathtub to read them in. I went into Barnes & Noble today with the intention of picking up one book, came out with three, and then added five more to my list. I didn't even get the book I went in looking for. I have this terrible obsession with collecting books I know I won't get around to reading for at least an age. I'm a lit major for crying out loud. I'm going to have enough trouble trying to make it through my list of required reading this semester... which I just realized starts so soon. Eheu.

Sale, Sale, Sale

Oak put Jeffrey Campbell's "Burbs" on sale. I don't even care how old they are. I'm thinking yes? These babies are mine.

Maison Martin Margiela

And Francoise

Undoubtedly my newfound obsession with French actresses/musicians from the 60's springs from winter break laziness. They were simple, but they were still pretty rock & roll. I'm still on the hunt for a pretty, leather motorcycle jacket within my price range.

Already?

It's just barely January, and Forever 21 is already stocking fairly distinguishable knockoffs from the Spring 2009 shows. Wow. That was fast. Please don't mistake my shock for disdain for I most certainly cannot afford to be a fashion purist. While Balmain was one of my favorite shows and Jil Sander not even on my radar, I am finding the Jil Sander look-alike rather desirable and the Balmain close to repulsive. Oh, the irony.

More Words

"It would be mortifying to the feelings of many ladies, could they be made to understand how little the heart of a man is affected by what is costly or new in their attire; how little it is biassed by the texture of their muslin, and how unsusceptible of peculiar tenderness towards the spotted, the spriggard, the mull or the jackonet. Woman is fine for her own satisfaction alone. No man will admire her the more, no woman will like her the better for it. Neatness and fashion are enough for the former, and a something of shabbiness or impropriety will be most endearing to the latter."
